Diamond Microdermabrasion For Glowing, Even Skin

Diamond Microdermabrasion For Glowing, Even Skin

There are seemingly endless ways to exfoliate: AHAs, BHAs, enzymes, scrubs—and that’s just the stuff you can do at home. We understand it can feel a little overwhelming, so we’re here to help. Our Expert Exfoliation series covers the ins and outs of exfoliation with advice from our estheticians.

At-home exfoliation is the cornerstone of any good skincare routine, but if you’re constantly struggling with hyperpigmentation, dullness, and clogged pores, it’s time to call in the experts. Diamond microdermabrasion is included in every signature Tracie Martyn facial because it’s as effective as it is gentle. Well-tolerated by even sensitive skin, it doesn’t cause redness and, due to its unique technology, offers more than the standard exfoliation benefits. Here, everything you need to know about professional microdermabrasion.

What is microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is the process of removing the outermost layer of dead skin cells. It’s a type of non-invasive physical exfoliation that uses a tiny, vacuum-like machine to buff away dead skin cells with a steady stream of crystal OR a wand that has a circular diamond tip. In either case, the debris is simultaneously sucked away, leaving you with a brighter complexion. But the benefits don’t stop there; the suction also helps to stimulate the dermis, triggering a wound healing and skin remodeling process, meaning you get to enjoy healthier, younger-looking skin.

Diamond vs. crystal

No offense to crystals, but diamonds wins this battle. Crystal microdermabrasion is done by blasting fine crystals over your skin. These tiny pieces of crystal can potentially irritate skin that’s already inflamed from acne or rosacea or end up in your eyes or mouth. Instead, diamond microdermabrasion is particle-free, making it much more precise and gentle with zero downtime. The special tip used in this type of treatment allows for an esthetician-controlled experience, making its results much more predictable.

Who can benefit from diamond microdermabrasion?

The short answer: everyone. We’re serious. Regular exfoliation is a must in any skincare routine, and diamond microdermabrasion is an excellent way to maintain a healthy complexion. It can also help to even skin tone and texture, fade hyperpigmentation (e.g. sun spots), lessen the appearance of fine lines, and reduce pore size. Anyone looking to tackle acne, visible signs of aging, or uneven skin tone will benefit from regular diamond microdermabrasion.

Diamond microdermabrasion at Tracie Martyn

Diamond microdermabrasion is included in each of our signature facials. The treatment clears away dead skin so our skincare and technology can be at their most effective. The Absolute Purity Diamond facial is our targeted microdermabrasion facial for clients who want a deep cleanse without more of our advanced anti-aging technology. We recommend getting this facial every four to six weeks to coincide with the natural lifecycle of your skin cells, but microdermabrasion can safely be done weekly if you’re looking for an instant glow. Results are cumulative, so consistency is important if you want to get the most out of microdermabrasion!
