FAQ: Do You Really Need an Eye Cream?

FAQ: Do You Really Need an Eye Cream?

A question that we get often from customers is, "Why don't you have an eye cream?" The short answer to that is that we actually have three products that work incredibly well as eye creams and serums, depending on your skin's needs. (Don't worry—we'll get to those recommendations in this post.) But really, the question we need to answer is, "Do you need an eye cream in the first place?"

Answers on this differ by expert, with some saying it's a waste of money to others saying it's a vital part of your skincare routine. The reason experts do recommend eye cream comes down to one thing: the eye area is extremely delicate and is both thinner and more sensitive than the rest of your skin. Because of this, most eye creams are formulated without fragrances and possible irritants or pore-clogging ingredients. Eye creams also often contain higher degrees of antioxidants and restorative ingredients that help build up the delicate skin around your eyes.

So why doesn't Tracie Martyn have an eye cream? Simply put, we believe that all skincare should be free of synthetic fragrances, irritants, and too-rich ingredients your skin can't absorb. Our all-natural skincare line already has products that are highly active and give your eye area exactly what it needs, whether it's firming, lifting, de-puffing, or moisturizing. We believe a high-quality serum or moisturizer is an equally great eye cream, and hey—who doesn't love a good multi-tasker? So on to our recommendations depending on your eye area's needs!

For puffiness, sagging, and sensitive skin...

The Tracie Martyn Resculpting Neck and Body Serum® is our most tightening and lifting product and—despite the name—is actually incredible around the eyes. It's super silky and hydrating, thanks to the extract from Silver Tremella, an Asian mushroom that locks in moisture even better than hyaluronic acid. The lifting and tightening effect is due to the natural amino acids, seaweed extract, and enzymes, while caffeine helps to de-puff and boost circulation, discouraging dark circles and bags under the eyes. The serum is also completely fragrance free, so it's wonderful for extremely sensitive skin.

For visible signs of aging...

The Tracie Martyn Firming Serum is where you should turn to for repairing aging skin around the eyes. As an eye serum, it is packed with antioxidants that combat free radicals and sun damage. It is more moisturizing than the Resculpting Neck and Body Serum® and gives your eyes a well-rested, radiant glow. Most importantly, it uniquely strengthens the thin, fragile skin under the eyes and increases its elasticity and resilience over time.

For fine lines and dryness...

The Tracie Martyn Face Resculpting Cream® works for every skin type, and if you don't have specific concerns, this is a great place to start. It's both deeply moisturizing and quick-absorbing, and is great layered under makeup. Caffeine also helps de-puff and increase circulation, while Rosehip Oil, which contains a small, safe, and effective amount of natural retinol, helps to keep your eyes youthful and smooth.

You can also absolutely combine our products by layering the serums under the Face Resculpting Cream® for an even more powerful effect, though we don't recommend this for those who are prone to milia.
