As women's creative director of Calvin Klein Collection, he is a strict reductionist- "I start with so many things, and then I eliminate," he says- but one who believes minimalism and femininity can go hand in hand. "It begins with the underwear, he says. "The makeup, the stockings, the whole complex and beautiful process of getting dressed. Is there anything more feminine than a woman in a lovely bra?" Perhaps that's why his ready-to-wear pieces have a whiff of the bedroom about them. Personally, Costa is of the crisp-white-shirt ethic, allows himself the occasional chocolate truffle, and grabs his naps in the facialist's chair.
